About

Common Sense was a book by Thomas Paine arguing that it was common sense for the colonies to rebel against England. Christian Common Cents is my argument that it is common sense to rebel against the “normal” way of handling money. Everything I say will be based on my Christian worldview of money. I think debt is a bad idea the vast majority of the time, I will try to help you get out of debt as fast as you can. I listen to Dave Ramsey a lot and I am currently following his “Baby Steps” to get completely out of debt (including the mortgage) and get to the point where I can give, save, and spend lots of money. This is the new American Dream that doesn’t include credit cards and foreclosures. If that sounds good to you I hope you will join me on my journey.

Along the way I will share plenty of tips and tricks about money, as well as plenty of opinions of my own. I will specifically focus on Proverbs, and what the Bible has to say about money. Dave Ramsey says that if you read Proverbs a few times you get a master’s degree in finance. He’s right. I hope to share some of the wisdom I’ve gained from doing just that. If you want to learn more about personal finance from a biblical perspective, I would encourage you to subscribe to my RSS feed for free updates. Who I Am

My name is Derek Clark. I am a conservative Christian guy in my mid-twenties. I am very passionate about the things I spend time on. Some of those interests include sports, politics, books, finances, friends and family. I used to play just about any sport you can name, in college I was the captain of my golf team. Currently most of my time is spent on softball, bowling, and golf. If you like politics, I have a conservative political blog at Geek Politics. Let’s just say I enjoy knowing what is going on in the world, and if you are up for a debate I’m here for you. If you like books, I tend to share reviews of most of what I read at Geek Book Reviews. I also have an interest in all things finance, and it is my mission to help as many people as I can get out of debt and stop living in fear paycheck to paycheck. That’s why I’m here talking about personal finance. As for my friends and family I am extremely blessed with many great friends here in Nashville, TN. I also have the most beautiful and wonderful wife on the planet.
